The Hong Kong Sociological Association’s 26th Annual Conference will be held on 6 December 2025 at HKBU, under the theme "Navigating a Changing World: Comparative Perspectives on Social Structures and Inequalities." Professor Man-Yee Kan, from the Department of Sociology at the University of Oxford, has been invited to speak on the topic: "Gender Differences in Leisure Time in East Asian and Western Societies." Deep learning underpins numerous artificial intelligence (AI) applications, which have proven to be practical and powerful tools in many domains in the past decade, including computer vision, natural language processing, and healthcare. Moreover, pioneers of AI won the 2024 Nobel Prizes in Chemistry and Physics. Recent advances in generative AI technology and large-scale foundation models have led to rapid changes in the biomedical AI research paradigm, especially over the past two years.
