To enhance the opportunities for research postgraduate (RPg) students to have access to courses available at local institutions in Hong Kong, the eight UGC-funded universities entered into an agreement to set up mechanisms to allow RPg students to enrol in courses offered by sister institutions.

Course Enrolment
To apply, complete the following two forms with endorsement from your Principal Supervisor:
- Application for Course Add/Drop/Withdrawal – HKBU and Cross-Institutional Courses (For Research Postgraduate Students Only)
- Combined Application Form for Cross-Institutional Course Enrolment
Submit the endorsed documents to your Department / Academy at least 5 working days before the host institution's deadline. Applications sent directly by students to the Gradaute School will NOT be processed.
For details, please refer to the Application Procedures.
Course Withdrawal
In case you wish to drop the enrolled course, you have to complete the Course Add/Drop form and submit it to the Graduate School.
Transfer of Units
The course(s) you have taken at the sister institutions will be transferred automatically upon fulfilment of the grading requirement at the end of the semester. Only the courses at postgraduate level offered in the Cross-institution Course Enrolment Scheme could be counted for the fulfilment of RPg coursework requirement. Besides, it is important to note the equivalence of unit/credit to be transferred. In most cases, 1 unit equals 13 contact hours. For more details, please refer to section 7.4 of our Student Handbook. If you have enquiries about unit transfer, please contact the GS at hkbu_rpg@hkbu.edu.hk.
