Smart Locker - User's Terms and Conditions

  1. The Smart Locker is provided by the Hong Kong Baptist University through its Graduate School (the “University”) solely for the convenience of the students. All use of the Smart Locker is entirely at the risk of the users of the Smart Locker (“Users”).
     
  2. All Users are bound by these terms and conditions (the “Terms”).  By choosing this collection method, you as a prospective User are treated to have read and accepted the Terms.
     
  3. Smart Locker service is provided for free and its service hours are from 00:00 to 23:59 daily. Access to the Smart Locker granted pursuant to these Terms is limited to the period stated in the notification email referred to in Clause 5. Any attempted access to the Smart Locker beyond such period will be denied, and the University shall have the right to retrieve the item placed inside the Smart Locker.
     
  4. If any information (including but not limited to the student number, email address, HKID Card number, and if applicable, details of the authorised representative) provided by you to apply for the use of the Smart Locker is incorrect, you shall be deemed to have accepted that access to the Smart Locker may be hindered, delayed or denied and the University shall have absolutely no liability at all.
     
  5. A User who has successfully subscribed to the use of the Smart Locker will receive a notification email. The User shall keep the notification email and collection PIN stated therein confidential. The User shall not disclose the information in the notification email to any third party (except the authorised representative, if applicable) before collecting the item deposited at the Smart Locker. The University shall not be liable for any loss or damage suffered or expense incurred as a result of or incidental to the loss or disclosure of the collection PIN regardless of whether such loss or disclosure is caused or attributed to the User’s fault or negligence.
     
  6. All rights granted by the University to the User for the use of the Smart Locker is entirely at the discretion of the University, and the User shall not have the right to assign, sublet or share the use of the Smart Locker with other third parties.
     
  7.  The Smart Locker shall not be used for any purpose other than that specified by the University. If the University suspects that a Smart Locker is used for unauthorised or illegal purpose or it contains any article other than the item deposited in there by the University, it may without notice to the User terminate the access to the Smart Locker and vacate its content and where relevant, report the matter to the authorities.
     
  8. The User shall be solely responsible for any and all loss or damage to the contents of the Smart Locker, and any damage to the Smart Locker resulting from the User’s use of it.
     
  9. The University shall have the absolute right to suspend or terminate the provision of the Smart Locker for any reason without any advance notice. Where possible, temporary suspension due to regular maintenance may be announced by way of a notice posted at GS Website. Except for arranging the item to be collected through other reasonable means selected at its own absolute discretion, the University has no other responsibility and it shall not liable for any loss or damage suffered, whether by the User or any third party, as a result of such suspension or termination.
     
  10. The User shall check the condition and information on the item (including English name and if applicable, Chinese name, Programme Name and other information) promptly upon collection. If the User has any concern about the condition of the item or the information on the item is found to be incorrect, the User shall leave the item in the Smart Locker and close the door. Alternatively, the User may drop the item into the Dropbox of the Graduate School located near AAB904. In both cases, the User shall report the return of the item and all the issues identified by the User to the Graduate School by email to gs@hkbu.edu.hk. The Graduate School shall not be liable for the loss, damage or costs incurred for the replacement of the item if no report is received by the date that the User gives his/her e-Signature for confirming collection.
     
  11. The University shall be entitled from time to time to add, delete or amend these Terms by notice posted at or near the Smart Locker. All such addition, deletion or amendment shall be deemed to be conclusively binding on and accepted by the User forthwith following the User’s attempted or actual use of the Smart Locker.
