ITS Programme Orientation: Embark on Transdisciplinary Research Journey
On 30 August 2024, we proudly hosted the orientation for the Institute of Transdisciplinary Studies (ITS) programme, a ground-breaking project-based doctoral training initiative. This year, we welcomed 12 exceptional students, selected for their potential to excel in transdisciplinary research. The session was enhanced by the presence of principal supervisors and distinguished speakers who will guide our students throughout their journey.
The event was kicked off with an inspiring address from Prof. Johnny Poon, Associate Vice-President (Interdisciplinary Research), who shared the University's strategic vision and commitment to excellence in transdisciplinary research, and the excitement of conducting research in the University’s four Research Clusters. Following this, Dr. Cheung King-ho, Executive Associate Dean of the Graduate School cum ITS Programme Director, provided an in-depth overview of the programme, showcasing its unique features and robust training components designed to empower our PhD students.
A highlight of the day was an uplifting story from Mr Wei Wang, one of the inaugural students from the ITS programme launched in 2020. As he prepares to graduate and embark on a new journey with a PostDoc offer from the University of Washington, his experiences exemplify the transformative opportunities that the ITS programme provides.
This orientation not only marked the beginning of a new academic year but also reaffirmed our dedication to fostering innovation and excellence in research postgraduate development. We are excited to support our students as they embark on this remarkable journey!
