Selection Process
  1. Applicants may be interviewed to determine their suitability for studying the programme.

Aims

The programme aims to educate IT managers and professionals who possess technical and management knowledge for designing, developing and managing IT systems. It provides a transformational experience in integrating the technological and managerial sides of IT. On completion of this programme, students should be able to achieve the following programme intended learning outcomes:

  1. Explain the core technical and management concepts and apply these concepts in an integrated manner for IT management.
  2. Explain and apply the current methodologies in some selected areas in IT management (such as IT enterprise management, knowledge and information management, Internet and web technologies, and/or business analytics).
  3. Identify business needs and explain the process of transforming business needs into IT systems.

Study Curriculum The study curriculum may change from time to time. Applicants may make reference to the programme website or the University Student Handbook 2018/19 for details of the list of courses.

Academic Qualification

  1. A bachelor's degree in science, engineering, business or other relevant fields from a recognised university; or
  2. Equivalent qualifications

 

Language Proficiency Requirement

If applicants did not use English as the medium of learning in their bachelor’s degree programmes, they should satisfy any one of the following English proficiency requirements:

  1. IELTS overall band score of at least 6.0; or
  2. TOEFL score of at least 537 (paper-based) or 74 (internet-based); or
  3. Other equivalent qualifications. (e.g. CET-6 score of at least 450) 

 

Others

Applicants having other qualifications and substantial experience in Information Technology will also be considered. 

To attract outstanding applicants, we provide Entrance Scholarships to the freshmen with excellent academic records in their undergraduate studies. Each awardee will receive up to HK$50,000.

To encourage students to achieve excellence in their studies, we provide the following scholarships:

  1. High Distinction Scholarship (HK$12,000/semester for full-time study mode or HK$12,000/year for part-time study mode) with the following conditions:
    1. the semester GPA is 3.90 ‒ 4.00 for full-time students or the year GPA is 3.90 ‒ 4.00 for part-time students;
    2. no grade is lower than B-; and
    3. it is within the normal study schedule and the number of units taken is not less than that in the normal study schedule.
  2. Distinction Scholarship (HK$8,000/semester for full-time study mode or HK$8,000/year for part-time study mode) with the following conditions:
    1. the semester GPA is 3.70 ‒ 3.89 for full-time students or the year GPA is 3.70 ‒ 3.89 for part-time students;
    2. no grade is lower than B-; and
    3. it is within the normal study schedule and the number of units taken is not less than that in the normal study schedule.
  3. Merit Scholarship (HK$4,000/semester for full-time study mode or HK$4,000/year for part-time study mode) with the following conditions:
    1. the semester GPA is 3.40 ‒ 3.69 for full-time students or the year GPA is 3.40 ‒ 3.69 for part-time students; and
    2. it is within the normal study schedule and the number of units taken is not less than that in the normal study schedule.

After the semester grades have been announced, the Programme Director will arrange to award the above scholarships to students and students need not apply.

Continuing Education Fund
If a student is a Hong Kong resident, he/she may be eligible for financial support from the Continuing Education Fund (CEF) provided by the Hong Kong SAR Government to partly cover the tuition fee.
