Selection Process
  1. For applicants meeting the minimum requirements, the applications would be examined case by case. Shortlisted applications would be further screened by the Programme Management Committee members before recommendation for admission is made.
  2. Application result will be reflected in the application status in the online application system.
Aims

This programme, Master of Science in Data Analytics and Business Economics (MScDABE), provides solid training in business economic analysis and data analytics. By taking various applied electives, in addition to the core foundation courses, students will be trained to analyse business economic issues using relevant data.

A distinct feature of this programme is a balanced training in business economic knowledge, statistical models, and programming skills. Specifically, this programme aims at training: 

  1. Competent analytics-enabled professionals: The Programme offers a variety of data-analytics courses supplemented by relevant statistical knowledge, programming skills and real-world business cases. Students can apply the technical skills to solve the business problems in hand data-analytically. 
  2. Proficient data strategists: The Programme also offers courses on latest economic principles for business strategy, and challenges and future prospects of smart cities development. Equipped with critical thinking and data science knowledge, students can act as an interface towards potential clients and translate project requirements into manageable data science project subtasks.

Academic Qualification

 

The overall scholastic record and potential of the applicant for admission is more important than prior preparation in specific areas of economics. The programme is open to students with an undergraduate degree either in business or in non-business fields with good quantitative training.

General Admission Requirements

 

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Science in Data Analytics and Business Economics Programme, the applicant must hold a bachelor's degree from a recognised university, or equivalent, with satisfactory academic performance.


Language Proficiency Requirements

 

Proof of English proficiency is required for applicants whose first degree were obtained from non-English-medium institutions. The English proficiency requirement can be fulfilled by achieving any one of the following standards:

 

  1. a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 79*; or
  2. a minimum of 6.5 in IELTS*; or
  3. other equivalent qualifications.

*Note: Test result provided should be within two years from the date of issuance of the Admission Offer letter. TOEFL iBT Home Edition or IELTS Indicator test is not accepted.
