| Graduate School Overview |
 |
The University emphasizes the equal importance of teaching excellence and high quality scholarship in its academic programmes. With improved funding from the Government, HKBU moved at a deliberate pace to launch the taught postgraduate and research postgraduate programmes in the 1980's.
To further promote postgraduate programmes and to upgrade the administrative support for postgraduate studies, the University established the Graduate School in April 2002. The remit of the Graduate School is to help the University build a postgraduate study culture providing a supportive and congenial environment for postgraduate studies. The School keeps abreast of international best practice in graduate education, and ensures smooth and effective implementation of policies pertaining to postgraduate student administration. Ever since its establishment, the Graduate School has grown rapidly in terms of the spectrum of programmes offered and the number of students enrolled. Currently, the number of postgraduate students in the Graduate School accounts for approximately 40% of the University's total enrolment.
